What does a cabinet maker do?

What does a cabinet maker do?

A cabinet maker uses woodworking skills to create cabinets, shelving and furniture. AND so much more.

Cabinet makers have to be exact in their work getting minute angles and measurements correct every time. They work with many different materials including different types of natural wood, plywood, MDF and chipboard. Modern cabinet makers also use products such as Laminate, glass, stainless steel, stone and reconstituted stone to create fit outs of all kinds.

Cabinet makers also require strong design skills and problem solving abilities. Many different situations will be encountered in a professional cabinet makers day. From remodelling a kitchen to increase cupboard space and functionality to designing a cabinet to fit into an aeroplane.

Using a vast array of tools such as mitre saw, panel saw, planer, drum sander, band saw as well as many hand tools cabinet makers produce either fitted or free standing cabinets. Fitted cabinets are the type used in kitchens, laundries and bathrooms. Free standing could be a book shelf or TV cabinet that can be moved around when needed.

At Haddon Kitchens and Cabinets we employ experienced cabinet makers who consistently produce high quality cabinets for all types of situations.
