We just finished this overhaul in North Lakes, and it’s a massive change from the original setup. If you look at the 'before' photo, that old two-tier breakfast bar and the cream cabinets really boxed the kitchen in and made the whole living area feel dated.
We stripped everything back to open the floor plan up, choosing a high-end, furniture-style finish that fits the character of the home much better.
The biggest change was getting rid of the split-level bench. We went with a single, flat slab of 20mm Quantum Quartz in 'White Swirl' with an undermount sink. It makes the room feel twice as big and gives the owners a much more practical workspace.
For the cabinets, we used Dulux 'Natural White' with a 30% satin finish. We added a nice profile to the doors and decorative skirting along the bottom to give it that custom-built, traditional look.

We used the Aventos HL and HK systems for the overheads and the microwave. It’s a great way to keep the clutter off the benchtops while making everything easy to reach.
We put in glass-front overheads with recessed LED downlights. It’s a nice touch for showing off glassware and really changes the mood of the room at night.
We went with Handle House 'Esperance' and 'Tamborine' handles in satin nickel. They have a solid feel to them and match the classic white cabinetry perfectly.
We’re big believers in keeping the quality consistent throughout the house, so we used the exact same materials for the laundry. It features the same Natural White Two Pack cabinetry and Quantum Quartz tops. Even though it's a utility room, it now feels like a high-end extension of the kitchen rather than just a place to do the washing.
