Out of Date

Your kitchen looks outdated and you are planning a complete makeover. If you are going to change the layout completely and need the cabinets gone, then so be it! Our team can help you design your dream kitchen and build high-quality cabinets from scratch.

Cabinet Box

The cabinet box is just so far gone that you can’t drill holes in it or put new hinges.

Water Damage

Are the cabinets discoloured or swollen? Is it hard to open or close the cabinets? Wood is prone to water damage and if there’s a water leak, the cabinets will start getting black spots, swollen or may even get mould damage.

Mould Damage

Do your cabinets smell gross? That funny smell could be due to mould.

Mould is a serious problem - it can affect the structural integrity of the cabinet and can also cause health issues. If the mould is caught early on, it can be easy to fix the damage but if there’s too much mould damage, it is time to get rid of those musty cabinets.

Poor functioning

The cabinets do not serve the required function anymore. They open up wrong and slam into the other cabinet doors. Or it is hard to access the items kept inside them or the drawers keep getting stuck. Cabinets have peeling paint, missing hinges or the drawers make an odd noise when you open or close them. The sides of the cabinet feel soft on touch.

Low-quality materials

The cabinets are made from low-quality materials like particleboard or MDF which can easily get damaged by moisture and water. In this case, refacing is not an option and the cabinet will need to be replaced completely.

How long do kitchen cabinets last?

Kitchen cabinets made from high-quality materials can last for almost 50 years. However, they need to be maintained properly so they last long. As the cabinets begin to age and deteriorate, spending money on repairs can cost more than replacing the cabinets.

Should you replace the cabinets?

Kitchen cabinets do not last forever…The first few times the cabinets can be refaced to fix the damage. However, if the damage is too much, and then cabinets do not have the guts anymore, the cabinets should be replaced completely.

Cabinet refacing v/s replacement

Cabinet refacing is usually done when the cabinet box or shelves are in a good condition. In refacing, you could simply replace the cabinet doors keeping the existing framework intact. You could also paint or laminate the cabinet doors.

Cabinet refacing is a great way to replace worn-out components (handles, hinges, drawers or runners) without spending a lot of money.
